Today I am thrilled to spotlight on Ollie Bostoock who captures wedding films which are cinematic in style, capturing the charisma, beauty and even the humour of a couples special day.
In his own words he says “I film in a relaxed non-intrusive “fly on the wall” style that leaves you with a film you will want to watch again and again.”
I hand over to Ollie to share his story…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“I’m Ollie a wedding film maker from York. I create cinematic and stylish montage wedding films set to song choice of the Bride and Groom.”
“I capture the details, humour and highlights of the day and create a film that can be shared with everyone.”
“The films are bespoke, each couple always want something different from a longer film, the speeches in full or even all the guests miming to Queen.”
“I prefer to chat with the couple and see what they want rather than have set packages. Every wedding is different.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“I have worked in media for 4 years as a camera operator and editor. I’v worked with companies including, Playstation, EA Sports, The Saturdays, The Stone Roses, Leeds Museum, York University.”
“Initially I had gone on holiday to France and had made a montage video of my weeks trip, I posted it online and a friend asked if I could produce a similar video for her wedding.”
“It seemed like a fun project so I shot the wedding and I was hooked.”
“It was so much fun, weddings bring out the best in people and it’s a pleasure to be part of a couples day.
“From that wedding I was recommended to other couples and it went from there. A few weeks ago I decided to start my web site and start advertising with the hope of shooting a lot more wedding films.”
“I also work regularly with McGee Photography as the film maker included in their Premium package.”
What inspires you?
“So much inspires me but I like people who try to create something unique and not follow the trends.”
Do trends influence your work?
“I like to see what other filmmakers are shooting and there are some amazing people out there, but I tend to do my own thing.”
“I really want to shoot a video on 8mm though, especially for a bohemian wedding.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“A horror film I made when I first got into film making won a completion to be on the Paranormal Activities DVD extras.”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“Hopefully making a lot more films for couples, a Halloween wedding film would be good.”
Below are some examples of Ollie’s film work, and I thank him for sharing his wedding films with us on the Blog today….
