Happy tears are inevitable on a Wedding Day so I am thrilled to spotlight on The Handkerchief Shop who specialize in stylish Wedding handkerchiefs.
There is something so lovely about that little square of embroidered fabric, and its a wonderful personal touch for the Bride, Groom or Wedding Party on that special day.
Alongside many designs, colorful prints and trims there are also personalised embroidery and monogramming options.
I had a wee chat with Colleen Corcoran about her beautiful U.S based Business…
Who are you, and what do you do?
“My name is Colleen and I am the owner of The Handkerchief Shop.”
“I manufacture two exclusive lines of handkerchiefs, Happy Hanky for ladies and The Hank for the gentlemen.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“I started my company in 2008 after I couldn’t find any stylish handkerchiefs to give my mom and bridal party for my own wedding three years earlier.”
“I felt like those happy tears from the special moments at my wedding deserved more than just a tissue, so Happy Hanky was born.”
“My mom had given me my first handkerchief when I was aged just 7 so I asked her to write the happy tears poem that is on every Happy Hanky package.”
“Keep this hanky through the years,
For it will dry your happy tears.
In your tears memories hide,
Its folds will keep them all inside.
So when you choose to reminisce,
Happy tears are part of this.
Just blot them dry,
And keep them close.
For memories are what matter most.”
What inspires you?
“I get inspiration from EVERYWHERE…people, places, things….blogs!”
“I love visiting new cities and meandering through the little neighborhoods.”
“I also love a great entrepreneur story and hearing how others started on their journey.”
Do trends influence your work?
“I pay close attention to the bridal color trends.”
“I then edit my new collections down to colors or prints that I think will be the most popular.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“Being a mom. It’s the most rewarding and challenging role I’ve ever had all rolled into one.”
“Why use a handkerchief at my wedding?”
“Why dry those happy wedding tears with a crumpled-up tissue?”
“When you think of all those sentimental moments that the photographer will capture on the wedding day, a Happy Hanky is a must-have accessory that is practical and makes a great keepsake from the special day.
“Hankies from the new 2015 spring bridal line will stand up beautifully with all other lovely wedding finery, and will make for sweet memories. Perfect for the bride and groom, bridal party, and parents’ gifts, these hankies are produced in Philadelphia from 100% cotton.
“The Bonus: each of the women’s hankies come packaged with a special happy tears poem written by my mom….the person who gave me my first hanky!
“Hankies can be personalized with a monogram or custom embroidered, perhaps saying “Worth the Wait” for the bride or groom, or “Love Always” for mom.
“You can bet these will look much prettier in photos of dear friends and loved ones dabbing their eyes!”
Thank you so much to Colleen for sharing her beautiful wedding handkerchiefs.
The Business is based in Philedelphia in the U.S.A but the great thing is they ship to the U.K
