Today I am delighted to spotlight on amazing Wedding Venue Hodsock Priory.
Hodsock Priory is an historic country house wedding venue set in 800 acres of countryside in Blyth, on the border of Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire.
In 2007, the house was refurbished using period and heritage paints, fabrics and fixtures.
It epitomises country house style and the grandeur is sympathetic to the feel of the house back in 1829.
I recently visited the house whilst on family vacation, and its really quite something to behold…
Arrive in style over the moat and through the arch of our Tudor Gatehouse before being swept into the House and towards your ceremony in The Panelled Hall.
Its certainly an impressive site to drive up to, even in the pouring rain, and I am sure on a sunny day it would be an even more special sight.
In the main house, the Panelled Hall is licensed for ceremonies and partnerships. It is the main reception area of the house and ceremonies of all types and sizes are conducted here.
The warm and welcoming room is adorned with family portraits and elegant wallpaper.
The high windows frame views of the North Lawn and Hodsock’s formal gardens.
Wedding ceremonies take place in front of the grand fireplace which can be lit during the winter months.
It can seat 100 guests in a traditional aisle and row style with standing room for 20 more.
Its an inviting way to be welcomed into the house, you can sense its history from the very first room, and that that makes it a wonderful place to start your new history too.
The Ante Room is often chosen as the place for guests to leave cards and gifts, sign the guest book, get creative and exhibit their inner goofball with Polaroid or photo booth fun.
Love its rich blue colour which is in keeping with the luxury feel of the house.
The Library and The Ante Room are lovely informal spaces, suitable for relaxing in the splendid views of the gardens and enjoying a drink from the bar.
The library is warm and welcoming and packed with leather bound volumes, digests, fiction and non.
This romantic space is perfect for catching up with friends following the ceremony.
The space also lends itself to becoming a performance space for soft music and entertainment.
Its cosy and you can see why is popular, its a quiet place of solitude away from the hub bub of the reception party popular with parents and little children and the more mature guest, and sometimes you just need that chance to breakaway for a little while.
The contemporary and elegant bar is a grand reception area for guests.
The dark floor and marble bar are complemented by a selection of modern furniture to create a stylish space.
Guests can enjoy drinks and canapés before the Wedding Breakfast in The Pavilion.
Its bright and airy in here and perfect to welcome you into the main reception space.
Along side its pretty glasses for those lovely drinks and cocktails sits gorgeous china tea sets. Perfect for your Granny who just wants a lovely cup of Yorkshire tea in a “proper” cup.
The Pavilion is a truly spectacular room.
It is a blank canvas to suit your requirements, from classical dining room to more dramatic themed transformations.
It seats 120 for dinner and is the wedding reception venue of choice with intricate plasterwork and antique finishes,
Underfloor heating helps maintain a comfortable temperature, a fully integrated PA system means that speakers and presenters can move around the room as needed.
This pretty space is a relaxing yet sophisticated wedding and meeting venue
The room is drenched in natural light and the French doors frame vistas of the Hodsock Estate and open out onto the ornamental Italian Terrace.
Its a pretty room that can make a big impact.
On the day I visited it was dressed for a pretty and elegant Disney themed Wedding.
It had the most stunning floral arrangements which you would not believe were artificial ( a guest was severely allergic to flowers).
The gardens are pretty stunning.
Hodsock and Snowdrops are synonymous. Mention the estate to anyone and their famous winter gardens will be the first thing they associate with the name.
Each February, some 20,000 visitors come to Hodsock Snowdrops. They stroll through millions of Galanthus and Cyclamen flowers, enjoy light lunches and afternoon tea and browse the plant sales and Snowdrop souvenirs.
The fine gardens remain nurtured throughout the year and the spring and summer blooms are picture perfect.
The river runs from the lake through the grounds and our pretty bridges are a great feature joining the lawns and woodland areas.
Its a fine backdrop to any celebration and absolutely beautiful for capturing those post ceremony memories as a couple.
To lead you to the Bridal Suite and House Bedrooms is a stunning staircase that is quite breathtaking.
The lavish Bridal Suite is an amazing space for Bride and bridesmaids to get ready to sip a glass of bubbly, and to prepare for the big day.
Or if you’re not getting married at Hodsock, the perfect place to spend a perfect first night of wedded bliss.
Historically, this was the premier guest room for VIP visitors and you can totally see why, its exquisite.
The Bridal Suite, is the quietest, cosiest and biggest room with the best views, and both the suite and the bathroom are HUGE!
Fluffy white bathrobes await your attention along with luxury toiletries including Italian soaps and heavenly smelling French bottles courtesy of Damana, including conditioning shampoo with balancing extracts of juniper and bath salts with relaxing extracts of jasmine.
A long soak in the bath accompanied by the old fashioned, low tech sounds of the Roberts Revival radio is a retro delight, and so much space to get ready for an excited Bride.
The Blue Room brings together retro chic gadgets and classic prints to create a timeless room.
In the ensuite bathroom, you’ll find a roll top bath and shower. There’s simple, traditional dark wooden furniture as a contrast to the striking décor.
The typical Colonial American pattern adorns each wall and the print repeats across the bed spread. Every inch of space is dedicated to the blue and white print.
While you could think the print could be overwhelming its actually really elegant and pretty.
The Green Room is traditional, yet stylish and combines vintage prints and modern fabrics, and is the perfect room for relaxation.
The homeliness of patchwork quilts is accompanied by the odd designer label here and there and beautiful button cushions scattered across the bed and comfy chairs.
It has a quirky feel to it, and I really quite like this room as its different and just really individual.
All three rooms in the house have luxury Vispring king size double beds and have many period features.
Luxury and splendour is extended to wedding guests at The Courtyard so up to 20 of your nearest and dearest can stay on the estate to celebrate your wedding.
