Today I am thrilled to feature some of the amazing Wedding Venues that Scotland has to offer with an informative Guest Post from Petersham Properties.
The landscapes, traditions and sheer atmosphere of Scotland have long made it a popular place for couples to get married, whether born-and-bred Scots or simply people with a fascination for this beautiful and magical land.
I have written previously on my love of my Homeland and Why you should get Married in Scotland.
Petersham Properties have a stunning selection of rental properties available as wedding venues, including three gorgeous ones in Scotland: Aldourie Castle, Eilean Shona and Mount Stuart.
Aldourie Castle, with its turrets, looks like it has come out of a fairytale, and is set on the shores of the legendary Loch Ness .
The interiors are authentic, warm and welcoming, with many period details, and the castle has been restored to provide modern comforts and a luxurious experience.
Its historic decoration makes it the perfect setting for a traditional Scottish wedding.
The castle sleeps 30 and is only five miles from Inverness, providing plenty of options for guests’ accommodation.
For a smaller, more intimate wedding, Eilean Shona, a property on a private island off the west coast of Scotland (but only a short boat ride from the mainland), sleeps 20.
Bagpipes, band and live entertainment can be organised, and the happy couple and their guests can take advantage of the magical moss-covered woods and stunning white sandy beach on the island.
The third property, Mount Stuart, on the island of Bute, was the winner of the 2012 Hudson’s Heritage Awards for Best Wedding Venue.
It’s clear why: Mount Stuart is a theatrical Victorian property featuring a stunning private white marble chapel with ruby-coloured stained glass windows, and an indoor swimming pool.
It can sleep up to 37 guests and is only 90 min from Glasgow.
Its Marble Hall, with a vaulted ceiling 60ft high depicting the night sky, has room for 200 guests and is available for the wedding ceremony or the reception (turning into a dancefloor after dinner).
The Drawing Room is a warm, romantic part of the house licenced for civil ceremonies and delightful for receptions, with its gorgeous views across the lawns and cheerful fireplace.
For intimate weddings, the Purple Sitting Room features charming window seats, and can hold 30 guests for buffet-style dining.
In the summer, outdoor ceremony locations include the sundial in the Wee Garden, and the waterfall in the Rock Garden.
For a more modern touch, the glass walls of the award-winning Visitor Centre reflect the changing light as evening falls.
Whatever your personality and preferred style, Mount Stuart has a beautiful location to offer you on your wedding day.
You can even take over the entire house, so that your guests can enjoy each of the facilities on this stunning property.
The wedding team are highly capable and have an eye for detail, helping you bring your dream wedding to life.
I can’t recommend enough getting married in our fair land.
With stunning countryside and spectacular views as well as a warm welcome second to none, what could be better.
What Venue would be your choice?
